We had an awesome weekend in Anchorage with our cousins! It was my cousin Justine and her husband Ryan’s son Beck’s baptism and we had the wonderful honor of being his Godparents. The service was a beautiful, private ceremony with close family and friends and were were so happy we got to be a part of his special holy day! I can’t wait to see photos! The other exciting reason we headed down was for my cousin, Nicholas’ first art show which was held at an adorable coffee shop called Coffee Cats. Nicholas’ work is incredible and it was so great to see his collection hanging. What a treat!

The weather was amazing and I had so much fun photographing all the cousins playing together at the BBQ celebrating Beck’s baptism. I’ll post some images here, but to see the full gallery of 60 images click here.

Our drive down and back was beautiful…the mountains were spectacular, the budding leaves were just showing their pretty green faces and the 12 moose, two porcupine and lots of rabbits stayed out of our way.

What a great trip!

Enjoy!

I couldn’t wait to share these two sneaks of baby Drake. At 9 days old he took some coaxing to get to sleep, but once he was out he was so easy to work with! Never-mind the fact that I had to put a little spit on his knees to make sure he wouldn’t slide off the guitar, don’t judge, it worked and the shot was SOOOO worth it! So what if he pooped on me, peed on the backdrop and peed on dad! We had a perfect session and I’m excited to capture him as he grows!

I have a bunch of babies on the schedule so stay tuned for more sneak peeks!

Enjoy!

In deciding whether or not to participate in this year’s Women’s Affair I kept having a nagging feeling that the booth wasn’t enough of a buzz for my liking…I threw out the idea of the LIVE Vintage Boudoir shoot to my husband and though he thought the idea was super cool he wasn’t sure how the public would receive it or if the trade-show would allow it. When I got the courage to ask if I could do it I was nervous and unsure of what the reaction would be…Kris was super stoked and got me all fired up to do it! Next question…could I do it during the wine tasting? No demonstrations are held that night was the answer. Well, with the edgy concept I really think it’s the perfect time for it was my reply. Thankfully, Kris agreed and I could rest easy knowing the wine would be flowing. So, the concept was in full swing and once the ball started rolling I knew I was in for a fun adventure!

I had an absolute blast and appreciate all those who came out to check it out!

I want to thank all those who helped to make this crazy dream to do a LIVE vintage boudoir shoot become a reality! First and foremost thank you to Kris of KO Productions for trusting my vision and allowing me to bring this edgy concept to the public. I am incredibly grateful to Una of the beautiful Alaska Heritage House Bed & Breakfast for the use of her amazing antique furniture, my vision wouldn’t have been half of what I wanted it to be without it! I owe a HUGE thank you to my beautiful model, Natalie, for trusting me to photograph you in front of the LIVE audience, your courage and trust means the world to me and I am so grateful you were there for me. To the gals of Charlotte Rouge Chic Hair Spa, thank you for an awesome job on hair and make-up!

A super special thank you to my amazing husband, Mike, for all your talent and hard work in making this show possible for me. My booth looked awesome and I owe it all to your vision. Lastly, thank you to my sister, Erin, and my brother-in-law, Hess for the hours and hours of hard work to bring the set and shoot to life, we couldn’t have done it without you!

I hope you enjoy the images and that the LIVE shoot gave you a little taste of what this boudoir stuff is all about.

Enjoy!

Woooohoooo! My new portrait is FINALLY up! Go check it out here. If you love it leave me some blog love.

I LOVE these guys! They trust me completely, they are unique, totally laid back and I feel like they have carved out a little place in my heart and are starting to feel like family to me. You may remember them from here, when a year ago I photographed their intimate wedding. Landon just turned two and the big debate is if, when and how to cut his hair for the first time. They wanted to capture his look as it is now before a haircut turns him into a big boy. I LOVE his hair and with adorable clothes like those his look is complete! Thank you guys for your loyalty and trust in me…I look forward to capturing many more milestones with your family. Enjoy!

As promised here are some more shots of little Max. See this post for a little more about his shoot. Enjoy!

I got to meet David & Katie about a year ago when they joined us at the cabin for Thanksgiving and her Mama was newly pregnant.  We sure enjoyed meeting them and it’s no surprise that their little gal is super sweet too!  She was full of smiles and very patient with me in spite of the chilly weather and all the moving around we did. I hope I get to capture her as she grows! Enjoy.

Cody is one of my 2010 Senior Hottie’s so ask him about his shoot if you catch him in the halls at school.

As we made our way around his property we chatted about his dreams of being a writer, college plans, a chick he’s had his eye on, growing up, sports, grades and family. In the midst of the seriousness we had some very hysterical laughs! The main draw to shooting at his house was the barn and after about 30 minutes of shooting around their two calm horses something snapped in them. When we opened the stall that houses the sawdust the horses literally went nuts racing around us!  The stall was piled at least 6 feet tall with sawdust and they decided they needed to get in it. One would race in and get buried up to the armpits and be struggling to get out as the other would charge in and do the same. They’d escape then run around the corral and buck like crazy then go back in for another try – this routine happened about 4 times until mom noticed the chaos from the house and came running out to rescue us. It was crazy! Cody was covered in sawdust and had quite a mess to shovel, but the shots were worth the memory that will always be sparked when viewing them!

So…after nearly being trampled by the horses, balancing on top of a 20 foot ladder for one of the shots and coming out of the snow/rain filled shoot looking nearer to a drowned rat that a trendy photographer I have to say I’m thrilled with the outcome and have had many full on laughs in remembrance of this shoot while proofing! Thanks for the adventure! Enjoy!

He wanted it all for his shoot…mountains, urban, athletic, rustic, trendy and we found a spot that captured all of those elements. Aaron is his Momma’s wild child, but he has such a sweet mix of confidence and tenderness – during the shoot as we moved through the evening he’d look to his Mom and his little sister for guidance “does this look okay?” or “which shirt goes better?” then it came time for the shot and he’d pull the look out of no where and do it effortlessly. I’ve loved watching this guy grow up  and I’m confident he’s going to great things in life. I had so much fun with this shoot. Thanks for a great evening Aaron! Enjoy.

What a fun shoot!  Nyk brought along his girlfriend Kelly for his shoot and they were sure cute together!  I know this is Nyk’s senior shoot, but since I know Kelly is super excited to see the pics too I included just as many teasers of them together as I did of him alone. He’s coy yet confident, trendy, athletic, loves his Momma and was just an all around easy guy to photograph. I’m grateful I got to catch a little glimpse of your world. I hope you have an awesome senior year. Enjoy!
