2010 was a BUSY year for me and blogging took a back burner to all the exciting shoots, family fun and the biggest news of the year – our ‘new’ baby girl – Elia Chelle! Why it’s taken me 4+ months to introduce her can only be summed up by saying I’ve been soaking up all the delicious moments with my girls and my computer has been collecting dust most days. I knew going into baby number two that the time would fly by and I was determined to slow down to enjoy it all. Once again we have been blessed with a laid back, sweet, sweet baby and I couldn’t be more grateful. I am LOVING my time home with my girls and am looking forward to getting my photog wheels turning for the spring and summer season (available sessions are limited for this year so I can continue to enjoy these two beauties so if you are hoping to book with me catch me early to be sure you get in). I have some fun shoots on the horizon and a ton in the archives from last year and have my fingers crossed and big intentions of getting some blogging time fit in…
In the meantime below are a couple snapshots of the accordion style announcement we sent out and a couple recent candids of the girls from last week.
The November rain was a Godsend for me – all the warmth allowed me to shoot outside in the snow and Lael just had to have a shot of her new sis in her snow cave…
Enjoy my little lovies…
(far right of the second spread is the front panel of the card, the spread below is the inside and the rest of the bottom spread is the back – accordions are confusing).
Her baby blues are so sparkly…
Lael LOVES her little sis and we couldn’t have had an easier transition! Elia gets no fewer than 50 kisses a day, they are so stinkin’ cute together! Elia crosses her feet like this all the time.
If you are interested in a shoot with me this summer please call asap I only have two dates in June, three in July left and August has a few spots too. September is starting to book up and those spots will go quickly so don’t wait to call.
This cute family came to me for newborn and kid sister photos and while Momma was nursing I took sweet little 3 year old Morgan out to play. She was so much fun and was so easy going it made my job easy! Her month old sister Riley on the other hand had other plans and we only got a few shots of her. My fav is another hammock shot.
Enjoy!
We had an awesome weekend in Anchorage with our cousins! It was my cousin Justine and her husband Ryan’s son Beck’s baptism and we had the wonderful honor of being his Godparents. The service was a beautiful, private ceremony with close family and friends and were were so happy we got to be a part of his special holy day! I can’t wait to see photos! The other exciting reason we headed down was for my cousin, Nicholas’ first art show which was held at an adorable coffee shop called Coffee Cats. Nicholas’ work is incredible and it was so great to see his collection hanging. What a treat!
The weather was amazing and I had so much fun photographing all the cousins playing together at the BBQ celebrating Beck’s baptism. I’ll post some images here, but to see the full gallery of 60 images click here.
Our drive down and back was beautiful…the mountains were spectacular, the budding leaves were just showing their pretty green faces and the 12 moose, two porcupine and lots of rabbits stayed out of our way.
What a great trip!
Enjoy!
Today’s Monday me is a few of my recent favorite workout videos. I fell in love with working out for the first time in my adult life by following Jillian Michael’s 30 day Shred. It’s a 28 minute workout that incorporates a five minute warm-up, 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs three times then a 5 minute cool down. It’s a full body killer workout and all you need is 5 pound weights. I started doing it in June of last year and did it occasionally throughout the summer. In September I made a goal to do it for 30 days straight just to see what would happen. I took my measurements and weighed myself and off I went. After 30 days of no breaks and alternating levels each day I re-measured and the results were crazy! In my waist alone I lost 2 1/2 inches. The results were all over. Funny thing though I only dropped a few pounds. The difference was in inches and all my clothes fit differently. From then on I started to feel funny if I didn’t get a workout in so I kept it up. It’s now May and I am now 12 weeks pregnant and though I’ve switched up my routine I am still enjoying my exercise. I have shifted more to yoga, walking and eliptical since about January. I also bought Jillian’s Yoga Melt Down and it is awesome too! My favorite yoga video is called Yogalosophy and it’s by Mandy Ingber who is Jennifer Aniston’s trainer. All the video’s I do are 30 minutes so there is no feeling of it going on for too long. Yogalosophy is a slow workout that works every muscle in the body. It’s a killer full body workout without the cardio burn. The yoga I am practicing isn’t traditional yoga, it takes traditional poses keeps you moving through them to work the muscles. I am feeling awesome and hope that the extra strength I’ve gained will make this pregnancy even more wonderful than the last. I hope this inspires you and gives you the extra boost you were looking for today. I can tell you it feels good to actually find something I have enjoyed doing! Check the videos out below.
Enjoy!
1. Jillian Michael’s 30 day Shred
It’s Monday and I figured I’d take this day to share a little of ME. I love to cook and a couple months ago I discovered the Sprouted Kitchen Blog and fell in love with the food, the photos, everything. Reading the blog inspired me to try photographing some of my cooking. I have always used fresh ingredients but after lots of reading and some funky little hives that were showing up for no apparent reason on my abdomen I have been moving more toward a natural/organic diet for our family. I started to cut out food I couldn’t pronounce on labels and not only do I feel better, the little hives only show up when I eat food with weird additives. If you want to do some jaw dropping reading on the subject check out Master Your Metabolism by Jillian Michaels.
Another tid bit about me…when I was 14 I thought it would be cool to follow the example of one of my girlfriends and I cut out all beef, game meat and pork. I didn’t eat meat for about a year and a half after quitting and was at a friend’s house and they were having tacos and I didn’t want to be rude so I ate a coupe spoonfuls of beef on my taco, it made my stomach ache so for 17 years I would only eat chicken, fish and turkey. About a year ago I decided to give moose meat a try and it was incredible and didn’t upset my stomach so I have slowly been adding those foods back into my diet and the food horizon had expanded tremendously for me and I’ve had no adverse reactions to adding them back. I buy natural or organic meats and eat as much moose meat as possible. We have always caught our own halibut and have enjoyed some salmon over the years, but my goal this summer is to fill our freezer with both and learn to cook them like a pro. With the help of our neighbor we are going to tackle our first garden this summer. I am no green thumb and the thought of it all scares me, but I LOVE veggies and it will be awesome to grow it all ourselves. Wish us luck!
The following photos were taken in my kitchen with a tripod while I was making pita pizzas. The reflection of the food in the granite and the Sprouted Kitchen blog inspired me to shoot the beautiful ingredients.
If you are interested in this recipe or others leave a comment and I’ll post it. I am planning to post things of interest to me that I think are worthy of sharing…fun facts, recipes, books I enjoy, etc…If there is something you’d like to see more of let me know.
Enjoy!
